Vacations should be worry free, we can help with that
What if something happened while I'm travelling...
Maybe you don't want to think about it, but honestly you shouldn't have to, getting Travel Insurance is quick, easy and quite often quite affordable. Protect yourself from the unexpected, and travel worry free.
What is Travel Insurance for?
Travel Insurance protects you from some losses and financial risks that can come up when travelling. This can vary from small losses, like missing or delayed luggage, to larger losses such as last minute cancellations, or unexpected medical emergencies while travelling.
You also gain access to services to assist you when in trouble while travelling, that can help with arranging medical treatment, work as interpreters, help you replace lost passports and more.
A few things to note:
There are a few things to note regarding Travel Insurance:
- The benefits you receive vary by plan. When choosing a travel plan ensure that you are getting what you need, and what fits your budget and your plans.
- Unfortunately Travel Insurance can't cover you from every possible situations, Travel Policies are written on a "Named Perils" meaning that if you see it on the Policy, it's covered. If it's not listed, it is excluded.
- Travel Insurance protects from the unforeseen events that can occur when travelling, not events that are within our control or already foreseen.
- For example, if you book your trip and purchase your travel policy in May, your good. If you book your trip in May and only buy your travel insurance once you hear a hurricane is heading towards your destination for your time of travel, your losses wouldn't be covered since it is an already foreseen event.
So How does it all work?
Typically Travel Insurance will reimburse you for the perils on your Policy, once you have filed a claim, and the claim is approved. To file a claim you will need to submit proof of loss, to which the Insurance company will review and reimburse you for if it is covered.
So in a practical real world scenario, what does this look like?
Let's say you purchased Travel insurance that has trip cancellation benefits. Two days before your cruise to Alaska you come down with pneumonia, and your doctor advises you not to travel. You speak with the cruise line, but it's too late for a refund. Travel insurance will pay for the Cancellation. Without it, you'd lose the money you paid out for your trip. When you're feeling better, you just need to gather your documents and submit your claim with proof you missed your trip due to illness.
Or, maybe you have a medical emergency while travelling. In these cases your Travel Insurance may pay for your medical expenses upfront. Including transportation and treatment.
